UNITED NATIONS – Malaria still affects ninety nine countries despite a discount in mortality rates of more than a quarter since 2000, the Roll Back Malaria (RBM) Partnership said Monday.

Malaria kills over 650,00zero folks each year the majority of whom are children beneath 5 in sub-Saharan Africa, the RBM Partnership said in a very press release issued here to mark the world Malaria Day commemorated on April 25 each year across the globe.

“Each minute, one child dies from malaria,” it said. “Every year, 216 million individuals become infected with malaria. Most malaria cases are never tested, never registered, never treated.”

“Malaria interventions for prevention and treatment are cheap and highly price-effective. No one should die for lack of a US$5 bed internet, a US$fifty cent diagnostic take a look at or a US$one anti-malaria drug.” it added.

The RBM Partnership is a global framework that implements coordinated action against malaria, and mobilises for action and resources and forges consensus among partners.
